What is a Family Hub?

A Family Hub is a ‘one stop shop’ offering help, information ,advice and guidance on parenting ,health ,well-being & more.

They aim to connect families with the right support at the right time improving access to services and promoting positive outcomes.

What is a Child and Family Centre?

Child and Family Centres aim is to improve outcomes for children and families by providing universal and targeted services, early identification and early intervention.

What is the difference between a Child and Family Centre and a Family Hub?

The key difference between a Child and Family Centre and a Family Hub lies in the scope and age range of the services they offer.

Child & Family Centres primarily focus on families with children under 5 while Family Hubs are designed to support families with children and young people from pre-birth to age 19 (or up to 25 with special educational needs or disabilities)

Who can access the services?

Services in our centres support families with children from conception to 19 years old (or up to 25 years old for young people with special educational needs or disabilities). Please look at our individual offer by centre and see what Barnardo’s and our partners deliver from our centres.

What kind of activities and support do you offer?

We provide a range of services that are delivered directly to children and their families. Our groups focus on play and development, and we also support families through information sharing, signposting and referrals to partner agencies.

Can I attend groups if I don’t live in the area?

Our services are available to all families living in Peterborough and South Fenland and tend to be accessed by families living in the local area – you are welcome to contact us to discuss your situation.

How do I book a session?

Please check our timetable to see how you can come along to groups, some may require booking via Bookwhen, some may require filling out a referral form and some are just drop-in sessions. If you are not confident in using Bookwhen you can contact the centres where our admin will be happy to book you on to a group or course.

What other organisations operate from your Centres?

We have a range of organisations delivering out of our centres, they provide Health services, Mental Health and wellbeing, Parenting and Family Support, information, advice and guidance.

How can I volunteer with you?

Our Children and Family Centres are always looking for dedicated volunteers to support our offer, whether you can lend a hand at our stay and plays, provide some gardening assistance or help our admin team we’d love to hear from you.

Do I need to pay for activities or services?

All the Barnardo’s Child and Family Centre services are free.

We only ask for a fee of £10 to join Baby Massage but if you attend 4 out of the 5 sessions you will receive £5 back.

Do I need to register with the Child and Family Centre?

We do ask families accessing the Child and Family Centre services to register with us, this will help us to plan effectively ensuring that resources are allocated to meet the needs of the community.

 

Volunteer at our Child and Family Centres

Our Child and Family Centres are always looking for dedicated volunteers to support our offer, whether you can lend a hand at our stay and play sessions, provide some gardening assistance, helping in one of our community café’s, supporting Parents United, or helping our admin team we’d love to hear from you.
